Trailblazing Regulation: Hushtalk Achieves Full EU AI Act Compliance
Hushtalk today announced that it has become the first AI companionship platform to achieve full compliance with the European Union's comprehensive AI Act, which took effect in early 2026. The certification process, which took nine months and involved third-party audits by Deloitte and TÜV SÜD, covered 178 distinct compliance requirements including transparency obligations, risk management protocols, human oversight mechanisms, and data governance standards. Hushtalk's proactive approach to regulation positions it ahead of competitors who are still navigating the complex compliance landscape.

The EU AI Act classifies emotion-recognition and companionship AI as 'limited risk' under certain conditions and 'high risk' under others. Hushtalk worked directly with EU regulators to establish industry-specific compliance guidelines that balance innovation with consumer protection. Key measures implemented include mandatory disclosure labels indicating AI interaction, user-accessible emotional impact dashboards showing how conversations affect mood over time, and a 'right to explanation' feature that lets users understand why the AI responded in a particular way. The European Commission praised Hushtalk's collaborative approach as a model for other AI companies.

The compliance achievement opens the full European market to Hushtalk, which was previously operating in a regulatory gray zone in several EU member states. The company expects to double its European user base to 15 million by year-end. Hushtalk also announced it will open a Brussels policy office to continue engaging with EU institutions on future AI governance frameworks. 'Regulation done right is not a barrier—it is a trust signal,' Hushtalk's chief policy officer stated. 'Our users deserve to know that their AI companions meet the highest standards of safety and transparency.'
